Safety Upgrade in the Natural Gas Industry! Intelligent Sensor Detection Equipment, Precisely Guarding Every Link by Scenario
11 October, 2025
In the energy industry, natural gas has become one of the crucial energy sources driving social development due to its clean and efficient characteristics. However, from the output at gas source stations, through transmission and distribution via pipelines, to the end - user consumption, every link harbors potential safety risks, such as abnormal pressure, gas leakage, and pipeline corrosion. Once problems occur, they not only lead to energy waste but also may trigger severe safety accidents, endangering people's lives and property.
To effectively prevent these risks and ensure the safe and stable operation of the natural gas industry, scenario - specific intelligent sensor detection equipment has emerged. Tailored to the characteristics and needs of different scenarios in the natural gas industry, these devices, with their advanced technology and excellent performance, build a solid safety defense line for each link.
As the starting point of natural gas output, the stability of the output status at gas source stations directly affects the safety of the entire subsequent natural gas transmission system. Here, we have deployed high - precision pressure/temperature transmitters and combustible gas detectors to safeguard the natural gas output.
The high - precision pressure/temperature transmitters boast an accuracy of up to 0.1% FS, enabling real - time and accurate monitoring of pressure and temperature changes at gas source stations. Whether it is a slight fluctuation in pressure or a minor rise or fall in temperature, they can detect these changes sensitively and transmit the data to the control system promptly. Based on these precise data, staff can adjust the parameters of relevant equipment in a timely manner, ensuring that the output pressure and temperature of the gas source always remain within a stable and safe range.
Moreover, the combustible gas detectors feature a detection sensitivity of PPB level. This means that even if there is an extremely small amount of combustible gas leakage at the gas source station, the detectors can quickly detect it and issue an alarm. Upon receiving the alarm, staff can conduct inspections and handle the leakage point immediately, effectively preventing major safety accidents such as explosions and fires caused by combustible gas leakage, and thus effectively safeguarding the safety of gas source stations.
Transmission and distribution pipelines serve as the vital channels for transporting natural gas from gas source stations to end - users. Due to their wide coverage and complex operating environments (for instance, some pipelines need to pass through cold regions, high - temperature areas, or be laid underground), they face various potential safety hazards, including pipeline corrosion, abnormal flow, and gas leakage. To address these issues, we have equipped the transmission and distribution pipeline segments with pipeline corrosion monitors, flow sensors, and underground leakage detectors to achieve comprehensive sensing of the pipeline operation status.
The pipeline corrosion monitors can operate stably in extreme environments ranging from - 40℃ to 85℃. Whether in the severe cold of winter or the intense heat of summer, they can work reliably to monitor the corrosion status of pipelines in real time. By analyzing data such as the corrosion rate and corrosion degree of pipelines, staff can predict the service life of pipelines in advance, formulate pipeline maintenance and replacement plans in a timely manner, and effectively prevent natural gas leakage accidents caused by pipeline corrosion.
The flow sensors support bidirectional metering functionality. They can not only accurately measure the forward transmission flow of natural gas in the pipelines but also monitor the reverse flow. This function is of great significance in the process of natural gas transmission. Through the flow data, staff can promptly detect abnormal flow conditions in the pipelines, such as a sudden increase or decrease in flow, or the occurrence of reverse flow. Further investigations can then be carried out to check for issues such as pipeline damage or valve malfunctions, ensuring the stable and smooth transmission of natural gas.
The underground leakage detectors have a response time of less than 1 second. Even if a leakage occurs in the underground pipelines of the transmission and distribution network, these detectors can detect it instantly and quickly locate the leakage point. Traditional underground pipeline leakage detection methods often consume a great deal of time and manpower, and their detection accuracy is relatively low. However, the application of underground leakage detectors has significantly improved the efficiency and accuracy of leakage detection, allowing staff to gain valuable time for timely handling of leakage problems and minimizing natural gas waste and safety risks to the greatest extent.
End - user terminals are the "last mile" of natural gas consumption and also a key link in safety assurance. To safeguard the safety of end - users' gas consumption, we have equipped end - user terminals with smart gas meters and househo
